About Raleigh

Raleigh, North Carolina’s capital city, is commonly referred to as the “City of Oaks” in reference to its numerous oak trees that lines the streets of downtown.

As an early example of a planned city, Raleigh was laid out in a grid patterned centered around the Capitol building in Union Square.

In addition to being dubbed one of the fastest growing cities in the United States, Raleigh recently received the title of fifth Best City for Raising a Family from Forbes. The city has also received awards in business, careers, education, health, and technology in the past.

Raleigh is home to one-third of the “Research Triangle,” North Carolina State University and offers its residents a wide variety of culture and education through it other universities, performing arts centers, and museums. Here is a complete list of these historic sites and their locations.
